Adsense login problem

Last few weeks I had trouble logging into my adsense account. I was accessing adsense account after a long time. Everytime I tried logging, there was an error message saying "Welcome! You're signed in to Google Accounts under the email [e-mail id] and your Google Account password, but this is different from your AdSense account email and/or password. If you're an AdSense publisher, try signing in using your AdSense email and password. Or, sign up for AdSense."

I was sure that my e-mail id & password was right, so It was kind of frustrating to see not being able to log into the account. Today, i was able to log in. So what was the problem?

Though I use Gmail id as username for the Adsense account, the password I had assigned for the adsense account was differenet from the one I used to log into my gmail account i.e. same email id but different passwords for gmail and adsense.

At adsense home there was no link to retrieve the Adsense password and that was the problem.

I thought many would encounter the same problem, so this post could be helpful if you have a similar problem.

If you know your email id associated with adsense account but forgot the password, use the link https://www.google.com/adsense/assistlogin to receive your password.

Quoting the Quotes - 1

Ocassionally I come across few quotes that I want to pass it on to others. What else could be the best way than having it in my blog. And let me know if you like it (and if you don't like it too.)

If the first thing you do every morning is to eat a live frog, nothing worse will happen to you all day.
The meaning is that you maintain momentum by tackling your most difficult and important problem first thing in the morning.

Hmm.. Sounds interesting, but i hate problems.

Restaurants in Chennai

I had a client visit from USA this week (2 Americans & 1 Indian). Deciding the restaurants to suit their tastes was pretty difficult. food should not be too spicy, good ambiance and ofcourse good service. I took them to the following restaurants during their 3 day visit and I should say it was pretty good.

  1. Mainland China at Sterling Road - Chinese Food, my favorite was Fish Karuba.

  2. Saravana Bhavan at Shanthi Theatre Complex - South Indian Meals and the Sambar

  3. Wharf Restaurant at GRT Temple bay, Mahabalipuram - Seafood Continental/Tandoor Style and surprisingly the bar and the restaurant was not too expensive.

  4. Bikes & Barrels Pub at Residency Towers- the place was just OK on a Tuesday

  5. Virudhunagar at AnnaNagar- Spicy chettinad style chicken and mutton. My guest liked it too. The ambiance was good but they need to do something about their entrance.

  6. The Amethyst at Gopalapuram- Good place for a chat. I saw quite few foreigners there and the menu (including the price) is designed for them. My favorite was the Power Syrup (Hibiscus Syrup with Soda), was different and tasted gooood. Would go to that place again for a power syrup :-)

  7. Sri Krishna Sweets at AnnaNagar - Bought some mysurpa and dates halwa! and yes they liked it too.

Are there any other suggestions for restaurants in Chennai?

And inbetween all this we had some business talk too.

gadgets - Nabaztag

I am fond of tech gadgets. Gadgets which are of use to me for my daily life, which can help in improving my productivity and anything which are useful. Few of which i own are Palm PDA, Apple ipod (i use it for listening to podcasts), Nokia Communicator (few weeks back, i had to seacrh for it in a swimming pool, courtesy my friends Pari & Prassana). But for the fist time i have fallen in love with an electronic rabbit and it does lot of work for you. My new interest is Nabaztag. I am yet to check if I can afford that, but i liked what it can do. It is an electronic bunny, which can sing, read news for you, inform when you receive e-mails etc. Something you can have in your office (if they permit) or home where Wi-fi and power socket is available. Nabaztag can aslo receive SMS and e-mail messages and can read it for you. He can teach you tai-chi and he can have a girlfriend too.

Will let you know when i buy one.

My dad's friend met me at office today along with his son. His son was a tech graduate, fresh from college. They came to meet me to take some suggestions on his son's career. The father and son had a different opinion about the right technology to start with. Son wanted to specialize in Java (his friends are all into that and couple of them got placement last month after they completed Java training course) and the father wanted his son to get into Microsoft technologies (his friends children have done that and are in US now). Since I manage a technology company they wanted my opinion.

I have come across similar queries from many fresh graduates, asking which was better Java or Microsoft. Mainframe or Database administration. This or that.....

My answer was (and it would continue to be) discuss with your friends and take a decision.

When a fresher takes a decision after talking to his friends, it helps in the long way. Primarily, they are given an opportunity to decide their career and they have someone to assist them always. When this freedom is not provided (and they being forced), they take up some courses suggested by their parents, doing something different from what their friends are doing, it ends up in trouble when their friends who are doing other technology courses starts getting jobs and he is still looking for a job. It puts him/her into hardship and starts to feel that they had made a mistake.

I spoke the same with his father and he seemed to agree with me. I hope he allows his son to take his own decisions. Yes, his son requires his support but he has to draw a line somewhere and allow him to take his decision.

I hope I did the right thing, in saying that to a father about his son.

I came across this article here and just made me think of how better it would have been if the choices around us were few. The whole decision process would have been lot easier.

Anyways talking about Careers, I have a Job Opening for .NET programmers in my company and you can find the details here. Talk to your friends and tell them about this job opening, they may be interested.

I received this image from a friend. It just makes me feel proud. I am not sure if NASDAQ has featured the Indian Flag earlier but this time with the Indian economy growing strong this means a lot to many Indians living outside India.

The blogosphere has already started making comparisons between Shenzhen & Sriperumpudur here and in businessweek (requires free registration). Though India has a long way to become a manufacturing hub or an organized market, the next five years is going to see a very fast and interesting growth compared to the last 5 years.

At this moment, a good read would be Tom Friedman's - "The World is Flat". This is going to be the next book I am going to be reading.

I would like to know what others feel about the India growth, particularly Indians living outisde India.

The mesage at the bottom of the picture reads "NASDAQ decorated its headquarter with the tricolour flag as part of the the India's Independence Day celebrations. It was the biggest attraction in Times Square of New York on Tuesday".
